In the Sumerian religion, people go to temples to worship. There were four “creator gods”: An, Enlil, Enki, and Ninhursag (so called because they created all of the other gods). Enlil is considered the god of the earth and also the “god of all gods” the same way Zeus is the king of the gods in Greek mythology. Ninhursag is the mother of all things, and the fifty “great gods” were children or An. A lot of the Sumerian gods other than these four were just wives, children, or servants of them. There are hundreds of gods in the Sumerian religion, but some more important ones are Nanna, the god of the moon, Utu, the god of the sun and justice, and Inanna (Nanna’s daughter), goddess of love and war.
